I’ve always been into fitness, but I took two years off in 2015 after my wife gave birth to our baby boy. With a full-time job and a baby to look after, I struggled to get to the gym and ended up gaining over three stone. That’s how I discovered powerlifting. I did some research and found that deadlifts, squats, and bench presses get you the most results with the least gym time — perfect! I tried it and loved it, and after losing over two stone by following YouTube videos, I decided to step up my game and start competing. After just 12 weeks, I entered the Steel Habitat competition in Liverpool. I came third, which was a major confidence boost! I joined a strength gym to get ready for my next competition later this year, and I’m even retraining to become a PT myself. I’m now three stone lighter, I train just three times a week, and I’m more educated in nutrition than ever. I want to show others that no matter your situation, if you want to work on your fitness, you can.
