At the 2017 Embassy Ballroom World Championships, I gave what I thought was the best performance of my competitive career. And then my name was called and I was given 5th place — the worst placement I’d ever had. After my ego recovered, I realized I had been dancing the way I thought others wanted me to dance. I danced to impress the judges, not myself. The experience changed how I approached competition and dance training. The next year, dancing my own way, I won the World Championship title in my division! Today, I am passionate about helping others do the same. I show people how to connect with their inner dancer and I give them the inspiration and guidance to take ownership of their dance journey. I help them to find the strength and confidence to perform as themselves, instead of someone others expect them to be and that is why I am JUSTSTRONG.
